I decided to check on my chickens early this morning. When I went outside, I heard a constant thumping coming from the coop. I look inside and it is swarming with mosquitoes and the thumping is coming form the chickens dancing to keep them off. There's no way they could have gotten any sleep. Poor girls. What can I do???

mosquito netting over the ventilation areas? Check area for standing water. Possibly mist the surrounding vegetation with a mosquito specific insecticide (assuming your girls don't free-range.)

My girls do free range, which is why I am worried about spraying anything. Is there any kind of deterrent I can put in the run?

I'm in a boggy area of Florida, so there is not much I can do about standing water. Anyone have any other tips about keeping mosquitoes out of the coop?
