I have two eggs that started external pip on Sunday. Today is early Tuesday morning. Yesterday and over the night they look like they are trying to zip as there are multiple external pips in a row. But none are breaking through the surface. I read once they zip you shouldn’t wait longer than seven hours, it has been longer then that since the second and third pips. Should I assist them, is this normal? I can hear chirping from one of them. Also they had their first external pip 41 hours ago. I’m so worried. I added pictures.

I did that and I can see the little beak now piping through the hole I made. How long should I wait for it to zip before I assist more?

Another 24 hours if need be, the duckling should be able to get out from here. Just watch to make sure when it turns to zip it doesn't block its air supply off.

Thank you!!! After doing that they were out within 2 hours. And now have been moved to a brooder.

Congrats, how are they doing?
They were doing really well, although one is sick or hurt now. We are not sure, he isn’t eating or drinking, is holding his neck in and just doesn’t act or look right. We didn’t have niacin in their food or water until today so I don’t know if that could be it. The other duck is doing great
