With all the rain we've been having here in Ontario the chicken coop run has turned into mud. I've tried to collect the grass clippings and put it along the bottom. Which seems to work for a few days but then with the heavy down pours it slowly washes away. I'm thinking of using a mixture of rocks and sand. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. I've attached a photo of what the run looked like before my girls ate all the grass and the crazy amount of rain we've had this month.

We tend to get very muddy here, like lately, lol. I find the large mulch works well if it's a couple inches thick. They can still scratch around and as long as you don't use anything treated,it won't hurt em.

I used dried leaves and grass clippings typically. If it gets wet and muddy I throw a bail of straw in there and that will help for several weeks. Again depending on how much rain you are talking about..........
