My chicks about 6 or 7 weeks was going in for the night and my daughter shut the coop door to soon and smashed the chickens leg. I'm pretty sure it's a really bad break. Idk whether to cull it or if this is fixable with meds and a wrap

You could try splinting the leg with padding and vet wrap. Popsicle sticks and other household objects may also work. I would give it some time. A break will take 2-3 weeks to heal and form a callous on the bone. A vet could xray and splint if you have one that will see chicks.

You'd be surprised how well a chicken can come back after an injury. Reduced stress helps significantly (remove her from the flock so they don't pick on her). I had a Gold Sex Link hen break her leg right at the joint. Couldn't figure out a good way to splint it. Brought her inside, made sure she had food/water often, gave her high protein treats. Couldn't keep her from using the leg! Stubborn girl! She was still limping a little after 3-4 weeks when we reintroduced her to the flock. But I had no trouble from the other 9 hens.

It's been a year and she has healed so well that I can't remember which one it was that broke her leg! She fit right back in the pecking order no problem!

So give her a chance. Keep her in a rabbit cage or brooder and in a comfortable temperature (ours stayed in the laundry room, easier to clean the floor, less disturbance especially at night). Give her calming herbs like lavender. Mealy worms are great protein and she'll gobble them up.

Hope this helps :)

BTW - If you want to read more, just type "broken leg" into the search bar (just below the BYC logo at the top of your screen). Tons of people have had this problem before. Lots of info available!
