I just noticed that my chickens have mites ...I have them in my basement temporarily due to coop building issues...i now have them throughout my house ...I bought several products but I'm worried if they are ok to use on my babies and in the house.
I have Martins pen and poultry spray and premethin dust .

What type of mite do you think you have?

If it is Northern Fowl Mite, those generally live on the bird or die within a week or so. They don't typically live in the structure.

If it is red roost mite, then yes, you could get an infestation in the house as well, which would be a major bummer.

I'll link an article below so that you can see the different types.

I'm not familiar with Martin's pen spray (EDITED TO ADD...I just googled it...it is a permethrin based spray which is good), and the permethrin dust is good. You'll need to dust each bird thoroughly and clean and spray your brooder area and any other area you think the mites may be....which could be the majority of your basement if it is red roost mites.

You need to treat then retreat in 7 to 10 days to get rid of the freshly hatching mites. Then treat again in another 7 to 10 days.

Hopefully that will do it.
