Help! My chicks roosted in a tree before I could get them in the coop!

I have to lure them into the coop every night with bread. As it is, tonight I wasn't early enough. They are all settled into an apple tree overhanging the coop, via my kids playhouse.

Its pretty high up, so I'm not sure shoo-ing them out is an option. We have never had a predator and the chicken watch-dog(he loves them) sleeps outside.

Am I setting myself for chickens in a tree every night if I just let them go? What should I do?

Whew, I got them down.

It wasn't fun and it wasn't easy. Roosting chicken are even more dumb than awake chickens!

I shook the branch and the first 2 hit the ground pretty solid. I got an old shovel handle and poked the others until they lifted their feet onto the handle, then I reeled them in. Chicken on a stick!

My neighbor got a stray cat out of a tree with a pool net. She literally scooped up the cat in it. It was really funny!

your lucky they stayed in your yard. my brother and i took our 24 4 1/2 week old chicks outside this morning to the baby coop. when we were bringing them back inside (they live in a brooder in a shed), a brown leghorn chick escaped. Our dachshund ran after it, and it ran into our front yard. We could not find her. The chicks are locked up inside, and i assume she would go to them. But i am wondering if she would get into my coop with my six hens ( she is small enough to fit through the wire). I hope we get her back because she was one of my brothers favorites. Anyway, i thought i should give you the tip that letting your dog herd your escaped chicks is NOT a good idea. i found out the hard way.
