She has never done this before, but just this afternoon my 3 week old cochin chick started jerking her head/neck to the side violently!!! The other babies appear fine, and other then this she is acting normal. She still flew up to perch with the others, she is still eating and drinking, but she has these violent attacks, probably ever 2-3 minutes! It is freaking my son out as she was his new baby after our older bird died a few weeks ago! All I can do is sit here an watch her and hope she will stop for now! Any help is appreciated! I do have the poly-vi-sol, and have just started putting it in the water, tomorrow I will give it directly to her if this is still happening, but does anyone have an idea of what it could be?!?
Thanks!!!

BUMP!

My Faverolles Bubbles just started doing something like this tonight. She's never done it before. What is it?? She seems fine otherwise. Assistance please!

It almost sounds like a seizure. Give the little one some vitamins. That may help. It helped my chicken. Poly-Vi-Sol. They are baby vitamins. Good luck.

I have been giving poly-vi-sol w/o iron since yesterday. I will continue to do so. It seems to happen worse when she is under the red heat light/lamp. If I take her out in normal light it still happens but with much less frequency. I filmed it today and I am trying to figure out how I can post it for people to look at and give some help with. If I do I will let everyone know! Scooterward, goodluck with your little one, it is hard to feel so helpless to do anything! I guess we just cross our fingers for right now.

newtochick, I realize your post is a few years old, but did you ever find out what was wrong with your chick? My 3 week old Silkie just started doing the same thing.

My 15mos old hen just started doing the same thing tonite. I just noticed it when I went out to close them up for the night. Maybe it happened when I flashed her with the flashlight? Maybe it is a seizure? God, I hope it isnt anything serious...

My Pip is fine. I had thrown a big bunch of beet greens into the run and well... Pip is a pig. Although it looked more like some kind of scary neurological disorder or something... I think she was just stuffed to the top with beet greens!
