Help! My duck is loosing feathers

Hi! I️ have a 5 month Old Mallard named Dot. She is a female duck and until recently she hasn’t had any major health problems. A few weeks ago she ran away and we found her at the local pond. We took her home and let her sleep inside for a few nights when we realized that she was losing her feathers. She hasn’t lost any of her flying feathers mostly the Tufts on her stomach and lower back. We bought some anti-bug spray after seeing a bug on her wing and have been using it frequently but it hasn’t seem to help so far. If anyone has any ideas please contact me I really want to make sure my baby is OK.

I bet you she's molting! No need to worry! My mallard is starting to molt right now as well so you have nothing to worry about ^^ she'll be completely fine! Also your female mallard looks like a male in those pictures to me...

That's a male duck going through is molt into is nuptial plumage.

Oh good I'm not crazy lol I was like "that's a funny looking female...." but yes he's getting his colorful feathers and that's why he's losing the ones he has now!

That's a juvenile molt...Now he will get his Adult colours and a Tail curl...Eclipse will happen next molt after breeding season...
