This happened about 5pm today. We rinsed the beak off then I applied the Blood Stopper powder (a good thing to have on hand when clipping bird nails etc.). I sat in the pen with him and it stopped visibly bleeding as soon as the powder went on but I could see him make a motion moving his beak and swallowing every so often so think it was bleeding from the inside. I made some cooked oatmeal & cornmeal - something soft but he wasn't interested. Went down in an hour to check him and he was walking around softly talking and the bleeding had stopped. Will see how he is doing tomorrow, whether interested in food & water or if he has eaten any of the oatmeal before I decide if he should put him back with the other geese. I was so afraid he might bleed to death. This was one of two goslings I incubated from an egg this spring, so is very dear to me - he comes running to me when I go outside and talks to me. I got the snapper backed into a large bucket to restrain him - he lunged and hissed at him and weighed about 15lbs - I could hardly lift the bucket with him in it. I was ready to annihilate that booger for hurting my baby and would have done so if I'd had a weapon handy!
So all is well for now! Thanks for asking!
