"I am seeking urgent advice for my hen. An egg broke inside her 6 days ago and she has a prolapse. I cannot afford a vet visit, so I am trying to save her at home.

So far, I’ve given Epsom salt baths, oral calcium, doxycycline 50 mg . Just stated that last night chicken drench, and used sugar on the prolapse. She is still mobile, eating and drinking. But the broken shell is still inside and she’s still oozing .

1. What is the safest way for me to help her pass the broken shell

2. Is there anything else I can do to save her life?

I appreciate any guidance you can provide." It may sound strange but this chicken means a lot to me . And I desperately want to save her

Welcome To BYC

Do you have any photos of her?

Do you know for sure there's a broken shell in the prolapse?

Keep the exposed tissue coated with ointment, oil, honey or the sugar mixture.
Giving Extra Calcium can be helpful so keep up with that.

After 6 days, can you feel the shell? Or perhaps she has some lash material in the prolapse?

What is a chicken drench?

Is she eating/drinking and pooping?
