she doesn't seem to have any feather nits and it was hard to even find the lice so it might still be early but I definitely saw the little yellow buggers down near the base of her feathers and she's been closing her eyes and shaking her head a lot
her name is oscar she's one of our older hens and she's a bit grouchy but generally a sweetheart.
we put her away in a separate enclosure to try and prevent the spread of lice but really hoping someone can help provide us with a solid answer on what might help we have 19 hens (lost three recently to an unknown predator so we've screwed close their chicken doors and locked the coops up at night) I've heard DE can be dangerous and acv is not as effective as some would have you believe is ivermectin the solution??? does garlic actually do anything??? do lice live long off of chickens where would they be hiding in the coops???
