Help, my posts are eating themselves

Hi! It's a weird thing. I start a post and every letter I type makes the letter typed prior disappear. It doesn't always happen and isn't happening this moment --- but I just typed a reply to a post and backed out --- went wacky. It does it when emailing sometimes (so it's not just a byc thing). I type a whole response and want to edit the first sentence and instead of being able to add, for very letter I type --- my posts eat themselves! Very frustrating! Is it something I can turn off?

Do you have the 'insert' key on.... you might want to check that I hit that on accident sometimes and that's what happens.

It sounds to me like you need to run your virus protection. Unless someone else appears with the same problem, you have an issue.

I have that happen all the time, off and on just like you said.
I leave a bowl of Doritos near the screen, as a talisman.

Lisa, you have to hit either the insert or delete key.

Yep... you hit yer insert key. Just hold down ctrl + insert. All fixed!

I hear pressing the Ctrl and Alt key and the down arrow works wonders, too.

Hi! I just noticed my cat stepped on something that made the 4th button down all the way on the far-right on this laptop (looks like, maybe --- never noticed it lit up before, cat isn't supposed to be up here) light up.
Dar, I have a delete key but no insert key, ******** but I do! Never saw it before, delete is top-right and insert is next-to-top-right key.

Thanks guys! That must have been what was happening! You all are BRILLiant.
The only way I knew to make it STOP acting foolish was to just quit what I was doing and turn the computer off.
