I have a rooster who is about 6 year's old he has been itching. I thought at first he was molten or had mites but it's been months and i check him daily for mites and nothing idk if it's from aging he is kinda old..does anyone know what it could possibly be his skin is very dry i tried coconut oil and nothing.

Welcome To BYC!

Can you please post some photos of your rooster and his skin?
What do you feed?

I haven't dealt with this issue.
The yellow under his wings, are those feathers or something else?
No it's his skin i think he might be sick but idk what it could be and none of my other chickens have any itching problems it might just be aging

Looks like he's molting too.
What do you feed? I would provide him with extra protein - you can give egg, fish or meat or feed him chick starter or an all flock feed. I think I would also get some poultry vitamins and direct dose him twice a week. You can find Poultry Cell at most feed stores, that would be a good choice. 1cc per 3 pounds of weight. Check to make sure his crop is emptying overnight too.

Look him over for lice/mites. For him if you are not planning on eating him any time soon, then I would use Ivermectin Pour On for treatment of lice/mites (this will treat depluming mites too). Dose for Pour On is 0.09ml per pound of weight apply to the base of the neck on the skin (must be in contact with the skin), repeat in 14 days.

Rub some vaseline into and under the scales of his leg and feet. I would put some on his comb too.

Age may be a factor, but I would try giving him a boost, tweaking his diet and treating for parasites to see if there's improvement.

How's his poop look?

Thank you so much I'll take your advice and try everything i can

Wow, I have never had anything like that happen to my chickens before, but I would try giving him some more protein, check his waste, and also is he sleeping a lot or active? May be an aging thing. Where do you keep your chickens? Is he getting enough grit? (Provided or just from the ground.)

I would try extra protein and vitamins to see if that helps give him a boost.
It would be interesting to see him walking - anyway you can get a video of that? For video upload to youtube and provide a link.
