Hey guys, so I have hatched out 6 chicks as of now and there are two more eggs to go. The incubator is getting very overcrowded though and I'm worry the chicks will crush eachother so my question is can I open the incubator real quick to get the dry hatched chicks out even though the last two remaining eggs have pipped? I know this is not advisable generally, but I feel like they really need to come out as there is no space in there with the shells and the remaining two eggs that need to hatch... Please advise thanks so much!

People open their incubators all the time during hatching to remove chicks that have already fluffed up. The shorter the incubator is open, the better.

It will not hurt anything just to quickly remove babies and move them to the brooder. If you're worried about lost humidity, pop in a warm wet sponge or napkin after you are done moving babies.. humidity will go back up. I always move babies when they are fluffed and walking, never have I had a shrink wrapped chick.. never.

:frowHi & :welcomewelcome to BYC!
They should be fine as long as you don't open it up excessively & repeatedly. Don't forget to include photos of your new hatchlings. I love me some little babies. :bunHappy hatching:jumpy.
