I have 1 silkie rooster, 1 silkie hen, & 2 barred rock hens and now this neighborhood rooster showed up today and won't leave. They were all out in the yard together when I got home & when I put mine back in the coop, he just hung out & is now sleeping on top of my coop. My dog even chased him out of the yard today & he still came back. I don't know what to do because he is way bigger than my rooster & I don't want them to fight. Any suggestions???

I have been hearing him everyday in my alley. There are lots of wild chickens & roosters in my neighborhood, so I don't think he belongs to anyone.

I'd catch him at night and separate him in case he has germs or hurts your silkie roo. Put up some ads and see who he belongs to. Otherwise, send him to the SPCA.

I had the exact problem...but not for long.

Yeah I really don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a home, I have been seeing him in the alley everyday alone. I might catch him & drop him off on this street a few streets down that have lots of chickens??? I wish I could keep him because he is beautiful, but I don't want him to hurt my silkie roo (who is a jerk, but I love)

I would isolate him, place an ad on CL and wait 2 or 3 days, then take him to the SPCA. That would be, IMHO, preferable to just catching him and dropping him off somewhere. At the very least, give your local SPCA a call and ask them what you should do, and perhaps they have a shelter where you can bring him or a place that fosters wayward chickens.

Good luck, and hope everything works out.
