I thought I started them out right. Heat lamp keeping the bottom of the cage at 90*, chick food, water and 1" pine shavings. They found the food and water right off. Then they started eating the pine shavings. 4 hours later I scooped out the pine shaving and put down paper towels. Gave them some hard boiled egg and a little grit. One chick now keeps pulling on and maybe pulling out the feathers of the other chicks. I separated her from the others. Oh also there is one chick that drinks, but I haven't seen it eat much. Am I worrying to much? Should I put the bully chick back with the others? It picks on the chick that isn't doing as well. Help me please.

Well, I didn't help one bit lol!

Are they in a good sized container? Sometimes crowding can cause behavior problems. I would separate the weaker chick with a calm friend away from the bully, or find a tough chick to go with the bully into isolation. Once chicks draw blood they will keep peck peck pecking that spot, so you don't want that to happen. Maybe isolate the weakling and give it and its friend some sugar water or electrolyte water to perk them up.

They are in a large box that is in a large wired dog crate. Their are 3 - 2 day old salmon faveroles and 2 - 4 day old bantam Cochin. So they have lots of room. I'll do as you suggest and separate the week one with a friend and give them the sugar water. Thank you for your help.
