I zipped the shell of an egg that had been pipped for a while this morning. The chick eventually came out of the egg but can't seem to get on its feet. If I right it, it'll stay that way (although its very doppy) for a little but as soon as it tries to move it falls flat on its back again with legs in the air and then it can't get up again. It's been this way since late this morning. Is there anything I should be doing?

Put it in the bottom of a mug or plastic cup right side up for 1/2 hour or so. Usually once they're held upright for a little while they will regain their balance. If it doesn't work try it again for a little longer. I would keep the cup/mug in the bator so he doesn't get cold.

Right after I posted I got a little toddler size shoe box and put a rag in it and then nestled the chick in so it couldn't fall back easily. I have it under a heat lamp so it should be nice and toasty. It's all dry and fluffy now and seems to be a bit better although still not up walking around or anything.

Anyway, shortly after doing that I looked in the bator and saw another one on its back and I'm sure it had been fine before. So I left it go a little but it couldn't stay up so it's now in the little box with the other one. This one seems worse off though. She has something out that should be in, for lack of better words. I had one like that the last hatch that didn't make it.

Both of them keep their heads turned to the side like they were in the egg, like they just can't get them stretched out. As I said though the one is looking better. Hopefully, it/they just need some rest.
