I bought a half dozen keets yesterday. I have done chicks but never guineas. I had them out in the large brooder tractor with my chicks for a day. when i went to check on them i noticed, unlike the chicks crops, theirs were empty/flat. I am not sure if it is because they don't gorge like chicks do or if they weren't eating, so i brought them inside. they are supposed to be a week old, all I can say is they had no egg tooth when i got them. since I brought them in they pretty much just sleep (and are shy of me)--how can I entice them to eat? I bought 24% chick feed at the store and have eggs I can offer them-they just have no interest. what should I do?

I just hatched mine out two days ago but mine started right into my show turkey starter chow, a 27% crumble by Purina. In the past I have added mealworms and dry cat food run through the food processor until it's a fine crumble or powder to entice my chicks to eat. Bringing them inside might be frightening so leaving the "night light" on and leaving them alone might be a way to calm them down. As long as they are drinking then they will eat when they need to.

Good luck!
