Help! Newly hatched chick is bleeding!

I've had that (usually from low temps or early hatchers) but this is loss of blood from a pierced blood vessel as well. :( The veins weren't completely dried up, but it was almost day 25 and the membrane was shrinkwrapping--plus yolk was absorbed and chick was squawking loudly. So I thought it best to assist it tonight.

Oooh I see good luck and I hope it does alright!!!

This is just now happening with my chick as well. I have 3 early hatchers (Day 20), and one of them was the first to start zipping its shell, but got stuck and the other two hatched before it did. It only took the other two chicks 1 hour or less to hatch and the third chick was struggling to hatch for 4 hours and exhausted himself. We had to assist him a little by wetting the drying membrane on his shell to help him kick it off. For a few hours after he hatched, he was just lying there breathing, but eventually got up and was moving around with the other two chicks. My husband and I just noticed fresh blood coming from his abdomen that was not there before. Could this be from possibly cutting it on the broken eggshells inside the incubator? Should we remove the eggshells? Should we increase the humidity in the incubator to try to encourage healing? I don't think we have any styptic or cornstarch unfortunately. He hatched almost 3 hours ago before he started bleeding. Now there is a lot of blood on the paper towel and I'm really worried. I really want this little guy to make it. Please help :-(

I'd put some flour on it to help stop the bleeding. Do a quick in and out though!

If you have powdered alum or cornstarch on hand, they are both helpful at stopping topical bleeding. Alum is a styptic, cornstarch makes an artificial clot.

I have both on hand for these cases ;) Fortunately it had clotted already. My concern was mostly with how weak it was.

It survived the night alone in the bator. Today it's a little more fluffy and navel is dried, but still so weak and tired. I tried to return it to broody but there's no way it can keep up with the older chicks and she started pecking it. It isn't ready. I dipped its beak in electrolyte water but I'm hoping time will help...

This is my first time hatching eggs in an incubator. It is day 24 and the first egg hatched an hour ago. Since hatching, the chick has just laid there. I can see it is breathing and will move here and there. But I just noticed the paper towel it is laying on has blood on it! Should I pull the chick out to see if it's okay? Or should I just leave it in there??
chicks sometimes stay on their backs for a day or two and get their strength and start moving around normally. I had a duckling do that too and turn out fine
