Did she run away when startled or did she just slip away? 5 months is young to go broody. If she has stayed at the coop for a few weeks she should have it memorized and will probably still be around the area. Try bringing out another chicken and calling, rattling their food dish, checking the trees where she may perch or tall grass where she may hide. Chickens prefer to stay hidden instead of be out in the open.

When we got home last night it was already dark, went to count the chickens and lock the coops but one was missing. Searched everywhere on the ground, under plants and in long grass. Calling her name and shaking food buckets. Finally heard her and looked up - she was on a branch 6 feet in the air! Still not sure how or why she was there but don't forget to look up when searching!
