It has a very big white spot on his head. I turned down getting the lighter grayish colored one with BLUE eyes because it had a little bigger comb and was pink. Was this an indicator that is was a roo? It was gorgeous. Took all I had not to get both of them.
This should be a pullet, but it's too soon to tell for sure. Barred rock cockerels are normally a lighter gray and a pink comb at this age almost certainly means it's a boy.
Well I guess I'm glad I didn't get the lighter one. I was worried if that huge white spot on the head meant boy. But all the others she had to choose from had no tail whatsoever ever and I've heard the tails on males take longer to grow.
Any idea the age if you had to guess?
Looks about three weeks old, give or take. For purebred "barred" chicks, they say that a solid white dot means female while a "fuzzy" edged white dot means male, though I don't think it's always quite so clear.
Looks like our Roxie who we think is a pullet!! Did you buy from MeMe's? I think I'm going to get a few polish from her. I wasn't a fan in the beginning, but they are pretty birds!
