Need some advice. I have 4 wk old Buff goslings that have been brooded inside in ac. I put them in my utility room with vents closed to stop drafts when they were small but now they have outgrown the brooder. It's 4ft long x 2 ft wide and 2ft tall. I live in SC and temps are in 90's. I put a shade cloth on west side of run along with a suspended larger one running from the top of pole barn(3 sided) to 3 poles I set out from barn. Problem is it faces West afternoon sun, no trees- lost in Helene- and it is still too hot for me sitting in there with them today. Will they be ok? I have no electricity out there but can run an extension chord to add a fan. They started to look as though they were panting so I brought them in. I guess my concern is the back and forth with ac and heat exposure. I want to leave them out there but have no other cooler alternatives. Do have a baby pool in an area I have to supervise them in - used chick fencing- because I read they are too young to be near electric fence. Read about frozen treats etc but those only last a short time. Do I need to keep taking them in and out ? Think I am putting off the inevitable . Sorry for long post.
