Hi, have noticed today that one of my 10-12 week old Australorp chicks has it's eye glued shut. While checking her out, also noticed a sore on the other side of her head (photos attached). Rest of flock appear fine. Any ideas of what this might be and how to treat? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Gonad, First of all, welcome to BYC! 💛
Oof, I understand you worry, poor chicken, poor eye!
For how long it this going on?
Does she get pecked on?
Is consulting a vet an option?
How is her behavior (pooping/eating/energy) besides the eye issue?
To be sure she is not getting pecked on and to be on the safe side for when it turns out to be something contagious, I would take her and separate her from the others until this issue is solved..

I'll tagg some people with a lot of chicken knowledge @Kiki @Eggcessive.

Hi there, thank you!

My friend thinks she has fowl pox. Besides her eye and sore on her head, she is fine.

I have separated her from the rest of the flock but there is a good chance the others will get it also.

Your pictures of the injury are blurry but it looks to me like she is being pecked. I would clean her up and see if you can get the eye to open. Use a warm washcloth or some saline to wash the gunk off the eye and get it to open. Once it's open, you can put plain neosporin in the eye if it looks like it needs it. Won't hurt to use it anyway
