help please

ive got eggs, day 15, my hen cant sit on the eggs anymore because she doesnt want to be moved away from the back yard and the other chickens keep getting in her nest. one of them cracked an egg today and my hen icy was so frantic about being in the front that she cracked one aswell. I cant get an incubator until tomorrow. would a red light be enough for the eggs until then?

Isn't there a way you can keep the other hens out of her nest? Some hens simply can not be moved from their chosen net site.

i have tried but the nesting box is inside their coop and if i shut that no one else can get in to sleep and she cant get out.

I had a similar issue. I ended up providing nesting boxes in the run and locking everyone out of the coop. My run was predator proof but in your case you could open the coop at dusk when everyone else is done laying and then lock them out again in the morning. They won’t like it. They will probably make a lot of noise and lay eggs in stupid places but it will prevent the loss of chicks.
