I call it bowing to the queen. What I have noticed is that there is the confrontation, and then the lower bird steps out of sight. (bowing to the queen) and then, often times I have seen that bird come right back out and eat beside them.
If they can't get out of sight, then the queen takes offense to that, and gives a bigger thump or a chase, saying I am the queen.... and it can get rough, as the peasant literally can not get out of sight.
