They have plastic rat bait stations with 2 small holes made for rats and mice. Inside there is a little metal bar where you put the poison on like shish-ka-bobs. This way they can't take the poison out of the trap. They nibble off what they want and then go back to their nest to die. I haven't had a problem with dead rats showing up anywhere the chickens or dogs could get them. They must be dying in their burrows. I haven't had very much luck with rat traps. They always end up empty the next morning without being set off.
