Help! Red Star hen choking??

Her, and all the other hens, are doing fine now.

Cinnamon kept doing the neck thing and she had a huge crop for a while, but in the morning, she was fine after the food digested. It turns out I didn't have any mineral oil, like I thought I did, so I just left her alone and checked up on her before I went to bed and in the morning when I woke up.
So she's fine now, and so are the other hens. I guess they just ate a bit too much food for supper.

I've been trying to lower the amount of food I feed them in thr morning now, which is when they are the most hungry after digesting their food over night. Instead of pouring a whole cup of pellets into their dish, I gave them half a cup and then when that's gone, I will give them the other half. That way, they don't scarf it all down at once.

Good idea! Like a horse bolting his food LOL! I remember seeing one of the boarder's horse had huge fist sized rocks in his feed pan. It might work for the chickens LOL!

I've never heard of using butter.

Does it work really well? Does it matter what kind of butter I use? (like the spray butter or margarine?)

Thanks!

My chickens do this often (i mean the moving the throat side to side and the gulping and they also have swollen crops when they do it) its because they ate too fast they usually get over it by the next day.
