Help! Is this a rooster or hen? I have 4 Wyandottes and I know one is definitely a rooster b/c he is the biggest in the flock and started crowing a few weeks ago. There are two that are definitely hens. The chicken in question has black shiny tail feathers, and a comb and wattle that is slightly darker and slightly bigger than the two hens, but not as bright and large as the rooster, and has not crowed to my knowledge since the rooster started crowing a few weeks ago. I got all of these chicks newly hatched in early- mid March of this year. We have not gotten any eggs yet. What do you more experienced chicken people think?

Why doesn’t it crow yet?
It varies a lot. Some cockerels will crow as early as a couple weeks old, some take longer, he will crow eventually. He may also not be crowing because your other cockerel is alpha. I have two cockerels and the alpha crows a lot while the other one hardly does at all.
