Help!!! Seizure or maybe Mereks? in day old Serama chick

I went to the local grocery store and they don't have the polyvisol vitamines with out iron. I do have some power elctrolite/vitamin water. can I give her some of that? Also is it ok for the other chicks?

Anyone help me? Not sure if it's wry neck. Maybe Merek's? It took a drink and then it's head bent all the way back words and it fell over. Does act disoriented but eats and at least tries to drink.

This is my first time using photo bucket so I don't know if this worked.


Do you think I should cull her? Can a vet test her to see what it is? A blood test or do they have to do it after she's dead? If it is Merek's should I cull them all and the Broody is was hatched under? The rest of my flock is fine. I've never lost any.

It's not mareks, it takes 6 weeks for symptoms to show.

I've seen it a couple times and they usually do not make it. It's some kind of abnormality and you should probably cull. If you are going to hatch chicks, make sure your breeder birds are on vitamins before you set eggs.

I bought the eggs from someone here. I'm giving her the poly vi sol vitamins. Of course the only one that hatched. I'm glad it's not Merek.

I just got a batch of chicks and had one exactly like that. It didn't make it. Two years ago, I had 2-3 chicks arrive like that. It doesn't seem to spread, but it is lethal.

I had a chick that did that too. She made it but was never "right". She would run in a circle and get confused easily. We named her Tizzy. We had to make the decision to cull her later but I wished we had done it sooner.
