My 1.5 -2 week old Lavender Orpington (Pearl) is my friendliest chick and comes right up to me every time I open the brooder. It's my fave! I really am not able to keep roosters and so I am hoping that it's a pullet.

Do you guys have any insight?

Hi and :welcome! According to what I have read here on BYC, the friendliest chicks are most often a cockerel. I have no personal experience, however, so hopefully someone will be along to help soon!

Its to early to tell.
All of my friendliest were cockerels and unfortunately i cant keep them.
The chicks i just hatched are all skittish but will come and eat out of my hand or climb on it. So im hoping most are pullets.
Id like to add that friendliness or not being friendly wont tell for sure if its a pullet or cockerel

Hi! We had a lavender orpington chick last year, which unfortunately turned out to be a Cockerel and we had to rehome. He was very friendly with us, but around 4/5 weeks old, he started to bully the other chicks. Below is a photo of him when he was 4 days old, followed by a photo when he was approximately 3.5 weeks old. The comb and waddle coming in were the first signs--the waddle nubs first started to poke through around 3.5 weeks. Good luck!
