hey yall i know yall probably get tired of getting this question but could yall help me sex my chicks? They are black astrolorps and they are almost 7 weeks now. The picture is attached below. I appreciate yalls help!
Just at a glance, I didn't see anything that said rooster. The one standing with the gold on the throat seems a little bigger - but still looks like a hen to me.
I think i see 4 girls and 4 boys.
The 3 in the front have smaller dark combs, and the 3 at the back all have combs that are pinking up. Including the one with the brown breast. Your boys will have red combs first, then watch for hackle and saddle feathers.
One of each in the middle.
At that age and with single combed chickens it shouldn't be that hard. Typically I ask for two photos of each one, a head shot showing comb and wattles and a profile shot showing legs, posture, and profile. With yours I think just one shot of each showing one or the other should work.
I tend to agree with 50-45-1, four of each. But there are a couple that might go either way.
sorry for the delayed response. As my chicks are skittish and almost impossible for me to get a picture of them one at a time, this is the best I can do. They will be 16 weeks old this Thursday. Maybe this is a better picture.
4 and 5 would be holds for me (the wattles throw me a bit), but the rest look like pretty, beetle black girls! Love the green shine to their feathers- enjoy!
