I need HELP, I just found an egg my broody must have pushed out of the nest, stepped on, chick is still alive. I wet the membrane and covered in a wet towel. Broody is off the nest, two more pipping. No incubator, what do I do???

With no incubator I would say put it back and hope the mumma hen comes back to it. I have heard of people putting them under a heat light if you have one could be worth a try to if the mumma doesn't come back. Don't try to help the chick out of the egg yet as there is still alot of blood in the shell means it's not quite ready to hatch yet.

Find a bucket and fill the bottom with little water enough to cover the bottom. Put something that you can place the eggs without touching water. Use 40/60/75 or 100 watt light bulb and Place them so the temperature will be between 95-100 degree around the eggs area. Wait for them to hatch.

I'm sorry, the eggs are about due to hatch. I don't know the exact day she committed, and when I candled last week, they varied by a few days. She has a truckload under her so I took 6 of the younger eggs and put them under a new broody (3 broodies here). Two others are pipping.

She returned to the nest after about 1/2 hour of dust bathing and growling at everyone and the broken egg is still under her. It took some effort to get an egg out of the box so I'm hoping she'll be an OK mom. I'm wondering if the eggs moving under her bothered her. She's a new broodie. I did put a good amount of shavings in front of the box in case she decides to toss another one.

Thanks for the response.

Hope it makes it.....and it's not a roo!

Well, bad news, the chick didn't make it. I shouldn't have given it back to mom. I think she pecked the half of the broken shell away. Went back to check and she had pushed it aside. Perfectly formed but too soon. I hope this doesn't mean I have a bad mom on my hands. Two have pipped, I hope she won't peck at them while they're hatching. Anyone have experience with a bad broody? All my girls, so far have been great. Should I worry?

OH sorry to hear that. No i have not had a bad broody. I wonder if she knew the chick was not healthy? Keep an eye on the others as they hatch if she really is a bad mother you will have to remove the babies when they are hatched.
