i've brought home 2 chickens. One being a Silkie Bantam. This little chick upon arrival seemed calm and sweet. In the past couple days she has attained a nervous sounding chatter usually after feeding. I'm not sure if I'm being a "Nervous Nelly" but it sounds like she's a bit stressed. Noticed her crop was larger than the other, and that she was stretching her neck and opening her mouth a bit, lastnight. Looked up information frantically to see if I could get any info, and came up with "impacted crop" or "sour crop". Sent hubby to store for kefir and I'm trying to keep her feeding light to feel it out, mixing in kefir with food and water She seems calm and in good spirits when her little crop is empty but then after feeding she is CONSTANTLY chirping and it's sounds distressing The chicks did have a stuffed monkey in the brooder for warmth and to cuddle and I fear she may have eaten some of the stuffing. I discovered a hole in the chest of the monkey and took it out 2 days ago. After feeding she does get a hard little ball in her crop, and some nights it's squishy. I have massaged it for her to calm her down. Any info would be great! I'm new to chicken mother hood. Please HELP!
