okay here is what you do. cut your hands off, or have someone tie them behind you back

let them be, don't interfere. it can take up to two days for some to hatch

I was checking back in to see how the little one did, sorry I was so short - I was off to bed and could only give you a teeny bit of an answer, glad you got more support, the best one being, get your hands cut off...I mean tied behind your back

no really, I've combed the assistance threads, even successfully done it when it REALLY seems needed, any you eventually learn to spot when a chick looks saran wrapped and dried inside the shell from you opening the bator too much (there, I admit it), or from low humidity issues, really.

Chicks can pip, and rest, and pip, and rest...the best is when they pip and zip and run around, of course...but there are those that just take their sweet time....so let them. And some may die. They do that to.

If they go for a really really long time, over 24-36+ hours without progress after pipping, and may still be alive - I start helping them, a bit at a time. (When the bator is getting emptied) That is a process, and often means isolating, for a few hours, a weaker chick. Later, I cannot tell that chick unless I mark it!

By the way, I will be putting my resisistance skills to the test today, I have 3 BBS Orps and 3 Black Copper/Easter Egger mixes in the bator due to hatch!

It went GREAT!!! He looked the same when I woke up around 10, jsut the small little crack and no movement. Then alittle before 11 he started and finished hatching!!!
