Help! Someone thinks he should pip the chicks air sac before they hatch!

It would be interesting to know why your father thinks that will help. Does he have a reason or is that just something he heard? A lot lot times things can be taken out of context. In certain circumstances something might help, but in other circumstances, not really. For what it's worth I have seen that on here before but I don't know the "why" behind it.

If the air cell is underdeveloped I could see where that might give the chick a bit of a better chance. It could see where it might potentially cause harm, say it let bacteria inside the egg. I don't know if there is a specific reason he suggests that for this hatch. But I'm in the school of "If it's not broken, don't fix it". I find the more I interfere the more harm I do. If I have a specific problem I'll address it but otherwise it is hands off. Especially that late in lockdown I keep hands off.

Sort of... same group of eggs but my little sister cracked the little eggs that I was gonna take photos of and one other egg as well. We started with 22 eggs, we now have 11. Plus, my hen outgrew the "small egg stage". Her eggs are still small but not as small as the others. Since her other eggs were so small I don't think they would have made it anyway. Sorry 'bout that. I stopped him from puncturing the eggs btw.
