Yes, I would hate that too. I just finished a Fortress for my small flock, as there is a serious German SHorthaird Pointer who is a top champion gundog who sometimes gets away from his place, and loves coming over to see my dogs. I caught him last fall crossing the street with the neighbors pet chicken in his mouth. No doubt heading back to his owner with his proud catch. He is amazing at what he does, and was gripping her just enough to hold her, but since she was alive, she was squirming, and he was holding a bit hard! Thankfully when I yelled at him to release her, he did, but the poor thing was traumitized! I think he might get a bit gamer if one gave chase like my little ones.
