im not going to do anything till i hear from soem one so please help stat.
thank you

thank you for response 2 attempts to put her in nesting box and both times she ran out back to desk. second attempt i shut the coop door and she went crazyso she is back on my desk i dont want her too stressed out on first egg. gosh being a chicken mom is very stressfull

Do you have any fake eggs or golf balls in her nest box already? That is how I convince mine to lay in the nest box.
Is she your only layer? My little girls watch the big girls lay in the box then get the idea as well.

my 2 leghorns have been laying phenoix everyday 10:30 to 11:15 like clock work. lilly one dahy on top of pheonix layed her egg and then last night was 5:30ish pm it takes her about 2 hours both of them use the nest box. now Cherrios today im on my 4th trip to nesting box and she keeps coming back to my desk top. i did have a fake egg in nesting box but i keep coming out in the moring and finding it out of the nest on the ground I think my girls played soccer with it so i took it out

i just took her out again played with teh hay and she kinds showed intrest and then as soon as i stood up out of the door way she made a be line out of the coop and is back on my desk. should I lock her in the coop (its kinds of warm and hubbid out right now) till she has teh egg or just let her have it on my desk I dont want her to stress out when i lock her in the coop she keeps running back and forth the whole lenght making god awfoul sound and then jujping up on the roost and pacing back and forth making noise then jumpi9ng down. ok I think she wins she can have her first egg on my desk and then afterwords i will take her and the egg to the nesting box. who knows maybe I need to get some silk in a nesting box and that seems to be what she is likeing are my silk pj's. (no im not putting those in teh nesting box

) lets hope after her first egg she will not be so freaked out and do it out side.

well i got a pretty brown egg out of her, she kind of scared me during the pushign stage everything turned white on her face her waddles and combs she set stright up and her body was like jerking this went on for like FOREVER (no like 20 seconds) and she she stood up and there was a little brown egg. how ever unlike my leg horns who get up and walk away after word and not look back she has been sitting on her egg for about 10min. a buff orphintinog wont go broddy on there 1st egg will they cuz i dont want no chicken sitting on my desk top for a month

Oh my gosh. HOw cute is that. I'm so excited to go get Sunny to the coop. If she's acting normal when I get home then I might have to send the kids on a real Egg hunt in September. Instead of this Easter only Business. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
