I came home from work to find my 6 week old black star chick laying on her side (head up, but eyes closed and not moving around). She seems to be twitching some. When she tried to get up she just fell over. Its almost like the right side of her body is not working right. She has always been much smaller and slower to develop than the other chicks of the same age that I have, but up until today, she was active alert and eating great. Any ideas whats wrong with her or anything I can do for her?

Anyone have any suggestions? I can't get her to eat or drink anything on her own. I went and bought some poly vi sol vitamins to give her. All the other chickens seem fine ( I have 2 more 6 week olds and 3 two week olds). The sick chick was eating and running around last night and today is just laying and flopping around. Please Help!

I also would like to know what is going on. I got 16 chicks 6 weeks ago & 2 did not develope as the others did they were smaller w/ no appearant tails, kind of weird looking. Sometimes one would shack like it was shivering cold but just for a second. The first one just crashed one hot day so I quick gave a bit of sugar water w/ some dits of salt in a dropper about 5 cc's. she recoverd for a week then one day I found her dead. Then the 2nd one went down after getting a little bit wet during a storm. I guess it did not move into the shelter. So I seperated it so the others would not trample it. After 24 hrs there was no improvement. So today we put the very lethargic (laying on its side) guy down to end the suffering. I just wanted to know is there something running through the chicks or is the problem gone now that the 2 underdeveloped one are gone. Does anyone know what this sounds like?

Sadly my poor little chick died early this morning. She went from acting completely normal to unable to do anything but flop around to dead in less than 24 hours. So far all my other chicks seem fine...just hope it stays that way.
