Hi, friends--we had a surprise this morning. I went to check for eggs and found two hatched chicks--they had been under a hen who has been broody for several weeks but who apparently abandoned them when they hatched. I thought they were dead but when I picked them up I realized at least one of them was still moving.

Right now I have them under a heat lamp. I don't know if they're going to make it. Any advice? (We raised 8 chicks last year so I have some small experience doing that. I'm really worried that these two have already been traumatized.) Thanks for any help/advice.

:welcome Move them away from directly beneath the heat lamp so that they warm up slowly. I have seen chilled babies of many species that have survived if gradually rewarmed. Good luck.
