Help. The chicks are hatching in 6 days and I still haven't decided on a plate.

Which plate is best!? Should I even do a plate?! I don't know what to do.

I literally pulled the same thing as you. But I decided to go with the Producers Pride brooder/heater. So far chicks love it. Everyone is happy and they actually seem to feather in faster, over using a heat lamp. I wanted away from the heat lamps. To much of a fire hazard.

Quail are too dumb for a plate.

Get a regular light bulb and a clippy lamp.

Yep a regular 60 watt old school light bulb gets plenty hot enough.
