Hi! I had two hens, one of thick was 4 ish and the other 2 year old Orpington. I adopted 3 new pullets, all different breeds, who are lovely. My Orpington, who I believed was so sweet has been beyond cruel and I am not sure if I should get rid of new flock or her. Unfortunately in this transition, my red hen stopped standing and is either injured or started to transition once I got company for the Orpington. I can not keep the Orpington with the others since all she does is Attack them. I have been having her sleep in crate in garage and free range around their coop/run so they are definitely familiar but I need them together since going away next weekend. Plus my poor other girl has been living separately and has not eating and drinking for a week, bathing her daily so she does not attract bugs because she is only laying not standing and now has a bed sore. I live I. Dobbs Ferry, NY and do not know if I should offer my Orpington away with a group that has a rooster, or someone who wants a solo laying hen, or if I should give my new three girls a home without a bullying hen. HELP! I can not say if my red hen stopped standing because she got injured when the other was attacking and I do not want any other deaths because of this transition. Thanks for any advice

How large is your coop and run? How did you go about integrating them? Miss Orpington is just doing her job by fending off the newcomers. You'll typically want to introduce new pullets gradually over the course of at least a week or two. They should be placed in the same area as the original birds in a "see-no-touch" pen, such as a large dog crate or play pen. This allows the birds to familiarize themselves without injury.

I'd make a second post for the girl that's not standing in the medical forum. You'll get better help there.
