Hey, I really want 2 -3 hens but my mom is against it. A few months ago I went and got 2 Pekin ducks that i take care of. She was mad because i didnt ask before i got the ducks but i take care of them.. now she likes the ducks and is fine with them here. I want to get a few chicks for their eggs and because i think they would make good pets. I've researched them a little bit. I want to convince my mom to allow me to get them. I can pay fro them, their food, and for their coop materials.

How can i convince her that they are a good idea? Any responses will be very much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad you joined. Good luck. I hope you can convince her, but don't go behind her back this time. It is not the mature thing to do and you are trying to get her to trust you. :thumbsup

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Proove to her that you can take care of the birds you have now, and that you have the time and financial resources to care for new ones.

Hello and welcome! I think this is good advice - the ducks you have are still young, and chickens will need a slightly different set up from what I understand. I don't have any ducks, but our first chickens have cost a lot more money than we first expected to get started. Enjoy your ducks and see how you feel when they're a little older!

Prove that you are responsible. Do extra chores that you aren't asked to do. You could try to convince her that the chickens will lay eggs and won't bother her. You could then have fresh eggs every morning, or you could sell the eggs to a local restaraunt and make a profit. Good luck!

As another poster had mentioned, our chicken coop did cost more then expected. You sound very grown up and like you can handel the chickens, but how old are you, if you don't mind me asking.

Good luck!! I hope that you and your mom can come up with a good solution.
