He went down today, and won't get back up.
He's a Broad Breasted Bronze, and he's now 2 years old. He's my first Turkey. I have another - a Heritage hen but she's a normal size, obviously.
The heat is so hard on him, and he's been unable to walk all day.
I spray him down as much as possible and he's free to roam wherever he needs to get out of the heat, but I'm just hoping this isn't the end for him already.
Yesterday he could get up, but he was weaving back and forth. I know he doesn't feel good. his snood has been retracted for a couple days, and he's not gobbling much either.
He's the most mellow, beautiful bird I've ever had. He's so sweet, and still tries to sit on my lap -even though he's 50 pounds.
Is there anything I can do for him? I've been picking him up and moving him to the shade as the day goes on, but I can't do that all day long. And he's SO HEAVY and strong - when I pick him up he flaps and nearly knocked my head off.
If he CAN'T walk anymore...WTH do I do?
Who do you call to put a Turkey down? I won't do it. I can't.....Oh this is so bad.
