There is a thin line of vein attached to the belly button and chick is struggling to move.
Do I cut it?

Alright! The chick is pushing it's feet against the tip of the shell, I'm afraid it's going to deattach and bleed. The chick is cheeping for it's friends, they are in te brooder.@wafflesalt Hi! No don't cut anything. @007Sean tagging a quail expert here.
@wafflesalt wait until chick is dry, the vein should dry by that point. It looks like chick is freshly hatched?Alright! The chick is pushing it's feet against the tip of the shell, I'm afraid it's going to deattach and bleed. The chick is cheeping for it's friends, they are in te brooder.
That looks and sounds like the umbilical cord, wait for it to dry out, thin and go brown, then it can be cut (as close to the egg as possible) if need be. If you cut it now, it will bleed a lot and could become infected. So don't attempt this. If the chick is damaging its naval by trying to move around and pulling on the cord- then we may need to find a way to prevent the chick moving around too much. But for now it will likely be okay as is. The cord will dry out very quicklyThere is a thin line of vein attached to the belly button and chick is struggling to move.

Thanks! Yep! The chick has now been out since about 3-5 hours, cord looks thin, but a bit wet as well? The shell egg is completely dry and a bit crusty, (easy to crush) I'll attach a photo@wafflesalt wait until chick is dry, the vein should dry by that point. It looks like chick is freshly hatched?
Also, congratulations on the babies!
I think so too, the chick is dry, so is the egg, but I'm not too sure about the vein, I'll attach a photoThat looks and sounds like the umbilical cord, wait for it to dry out, thin and go brown, then it can be cut (as close to the egg as possible) if need be. Could you perhaps get another photo so we can see the vein more clearly?View attachment 3425402
I chipped away some of the egg shell because the chick was struggling so much, sorry you can't get a clear view of the vein, pretty bad pic
