Hello all, I hope that some one out there can give some tips on sexing my 5 day old Dutch bantam chicks, I have 9 from a batch of 13 set, which I am very pleased with, 3 eggs was blanc and I lost one in the hatch, but the rest are doing fine I have had a go at the vent sexing and don't think I am doing it right, because I think I have 8 pullets and 1 cockerel. big_smile( I wish and hope that its true )big_smile.
But the laws of averages says that can not be right, reading from web sites it says that pullets tend to feather on the wings faster than cockerels, and guess what they all have flight coming as well.
But I just can not believe I do have 8 from 9. I am new to this breed but not to keeping hens/bantams, my self and my father have been breeding are own line of high breed bantams for 9 years now and we can id them fine, the odd one we may get wrong but no one is perfect at it tongue.
If any one who does keep these lovely birds and can help with tips or photos of chicks growing up, could they post some on this for me It would be greatly appreciated
smile.
Here are a few photo of the chicks to let you all have a look at them and I am not expecting any one to tell me male / female. Just thought it would be nice for you all to see them big_smilebig_smilebig_smile Many thanks. Gary and the chicks
