Today I saw her can’t close her mouth. One side of her mouth looks swollen. Weight loss, and salivating. I have her isolated from the group. Please help, I don’t know what to do. Thank you!

Is there yellow gunk inside the beak and does it have a bad odor? Is her left nostril clogged up with gunk as well. She may have canker, a protozoan infection that is spread by pigeons and wild birds from drinking out of waterers and mud puddles. Wet fowl pox can look similar, if you have had any of that going around. If canker is suspected, separate her, and try to get some metronidazole or acidified copper sulfate to treat her.

Yes, she has all of the above. Should I be concerned for my other chicken? Is there a preventative to it?

I take a closer look in her mouth.

I haven’t treated canker before, but her case looks pretty serious. The canker can invade the esophagus and crop wall. I would try to clean out the left nostril so that she could breathe easier. You can use a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide on a QTip to help soften the nostril gunk. Then try to use a wooden toothpick or orange stick to gently dig the material out. Try to not damage the beak or nostril. Here is an article to look at:
