OK, we just got some day-old chicks yesterday. I started looking at their wings today and noticed that one of the chick's wings looked like its feathers had been plucked off! It seem like they all look a little like this but she is the worst. I have pics below. Is this normal? What should I do? I could really use the help! Thanks

Here is the one I'm concerned about

Well the bottom, more whiter part of the feather, thats the part that looks like it has had the fuzzy stuff pecked off and is just under feather stuff.... I dont know...

Sometimes I look at the chicks or duckling and get nervous about spots where the feathering looks weird and then I realize its totally normal. They grow so much each day that their fuzz comes out faster than the new feathers can catch up and it can look a little odd.

Yah I agree that it just looks like normal feather growth, I wouldn't worry.

Wait until their teenagers, then you will look at them and think they got sucked through the vacuum!

Alright guys! Thanks for the comfort! Thats probably what it is. I just got worried because she was really the only one who looked like that and I thought I saw the other chicks pecking at her, but I'm sure she is fine! Thanks again!

Hey Fluffy Chick 15,

I do not think it is more than feather growth. If there is no blood and or if your chicks don't have blood on their beaks, that means you are fine.

What it could mean is that some chicks may be older than the others or that chick has a quicker feather growth than the others. So again no reason for alarm.

I also think your chickies look adorable!!!
