help, what gender is this silly chicken?

My girlfriend and I bought another chicken a couple months ago and she (or him) is now crowing in the morning. I have never heard a rooster before so I am not sure what exactly they sound like. The chicken is less than a year old and has not started laying eggs yet. It is winter here so we aren't expecting her to until Spring. Does anybody know if this is a male or female chicken?

The coloration suggests rooster....but I have no idea on breed. Good luck to you!

yeah it's a rooster and is a mixed breed with frizzled feathers. However a lot of people will call any frizzled bird simply 'frizzle' as if it's a breed. Frizzle is a genetic trait which makes the feathers curl outwards like on him.

if you wanted a guess on what the mix may have been- it's a wyandotte mixed with frizzled cochin.
