You mean a red tinge inside the egg or on the chick? Sounds like you're having a normal hatch so far, with the exception of that odd little pouch on the other chick. The string thing is the umbilicus and will dries up and falls off pretty quickly.

Yeah, little bits of red are fine. As for the sac chick, I still wouldn't puncture it even if it didn't go away and the chick is active. I would be afraid that if I lanced it, it could lead right into it's abdomen, or some how dehydrate the chick if it's a lymph filled sac.
