Help! Wild bunny in my brooder!

We aren’t certain it’s a cottontail, but marsh rabbits don’t look or sound familiar to me
I think today I’ll take it to the field adjacent to our yards. It’s an untouched area with long grass, so at least it’ll be able to hide and maybe find food if it’s old enough. I’ll do what I should have done in the first place, and let nature decide (and hopefully not Murphy).

How large is it?

I have found some baby bunnies under my driveway 1.5 year ago:

I even took them out to take a few pictures (bad, bad me). Mother rabbit knew it, I saw an adult rabbit checking out the kits in the burrow a minute after I had put them back.

This was them two weeks later:

This was one of them hanging out with my chickens:

That’s too cute! So their mother continued to care for them? I heard it’s a myth that she’ll smell humans on them and abandon them.

I’m sorry you had to see one dead like that on your neighbor’s driveway, especially after knowing it for so long.
