We aren’t certain it’s a cottontail, but marsh rabbits don’t look or sound familiar to me 
I think today I’ll take it to the field adjacent to our yards. It’s an untouched area with long grass, so at least it’ll be able to hide and maybe find food if it’s old enough. I’ll do what I should have done in the first place, and let nature decide (and hopefully not Murphy).
